NY Jets@Washington (-3)
2* Washington -3

The addition of Trung Candidate and Laverneus Coles will fit nicely into Steve Spurrier's offense. I really don't think it constitutes too much of a loss with the absence of Stephen Davis as Candidate has always shown big play ability and should have a breakout season after finally getting the chance to show himself. Canidate has great speed, excellent running ability and good receiving skills. The "Fun-n-Gun" should be in full effect tonight. Coles compliments Rod Gardner very well and this is a dangerous receiving tandem accounting for 2,270 yards, 160 receptions, and 13 TD's between them last year. The Jets, on the other hand, added Curtis Conway in an attempt to shore up their receiving corps after losing Coles. No comparison here as this is a major drop in the #1 WR spot. The loss of Pennington will be shown whether the hopeful Jets' fans realize it or not, starting tonight. This leaves Martin as the major weapon playing against a team that is essentially loaded with them, playing at home with something to prove on National TV against one of last year's playoff teams. Although Washington may have a suspect defensive line, Martin may not be able to carry the load in this one himself as the Jets may be playing the 'catch up' role tonight and have no last resort BUT to pass. I like the home team spotting a FG tonight.
